Taken on slide film. Not the sharpest of shots but the lighting, provided by the canopy of the rain forest, was lovely. I feel the softness (well that is what I am calling it not out of focus ) lends itself to the subject.
The kid was a bit freaked out by a bunch of white people coming to visit the tribe, hence the bottom lip. They are hunter gatherers and yes short, avg about 4 feet. Amazingly friendly welcoming people who like a laugh was what I remember.
The kid and his brother were both tattooed on their heads, faces and arms.
I think the place is now called the Republic of Congo.
What a great shot this is! I am VERY interested to see your photos from africa! The softness of this shot is great, the tones too, gives it a slightly "old" feel to it, very archaic like. And the pose/expression of the boy is great too!
I was inclined orginally to think the arm in the foreground was a distraction, but it actually makes the shot feel like you are there, amongst a group of people. Great shot! Fav for sure

cheers thanks for the kind words. Yes it was amongst a crowd of people so I guess the arm does give it some background atmosphere, I see what you mean though how it could be distracting, again thanks for the comment.
beautiful shot, the child looks kinda upset. but im sure he was fine in the end, i always find it hard to beleive how different our culture really is to those of africa, sometimes i wish i was apart of it, specialy when i just look around and see the beauty...the nature...the pureness. lovely shot, and a lovely set.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
